This chapter explains that continuous quality improvement (CQI) is a system of data collection and review that allows an agency to monitor, understand, and improve on an ongoing basis all aspects of service delivery and documentation. Five factors that are integral to an agency's CQI plan are discussed, as well as ten components of the Council on Accreditation's CQI plan. The researcher's role in CQI is also considered. 2 figures.
