What We Measure Matters: Data and Case Tracking Innovations in Action: Foster Care Data Collection and Case Tracking Innovations.
Home At Last (Project).
This document provides information about initiatives underway in various states to develop meaningful data and case management systems that will make a positive difference in the lives of children in foster care. This is not a comprehensive listing of all of the innovations underway across the nation, but rather a sampling intended to highlight a number of efforts to collect, manage and monitor data that states are engaging in in order to improve their child welfare systems. It is intended to reflect the diversity of these initiatives, the promise of the methods they embody, and the very real impact they will have upon the lives of, and outcomes for, children in foster care. While more remains to be done to meet the needs of the 500,000 children in our nation's foster care system, we are hopeful that the innovations contained within this document will be of assistance as other states seek to determine how best to collect and assess data related to their foster care system.
