This lifebook workbook kit designed for developmentally disabled children who are not living with their own families is to be used by social workers therapists, residential and mental health staff, foster parents and adoptive parents to help these children understand why they are not living at home. It serves two purposes: to enable the children to participate in planning their own future and to help concerned adults learn how children feel about themselves and the handicapping conditions that are a part of their lives. The first part of the work book kit is a Resource Manual containing guidelines for use with each section of the workbook and articles to help the adults understand more about developmental disabilities and how to prepare the child for a permanent home. The second part of the kit, the Child's Workbook, printed on heavy paper is intended for mildly retarded or physically impaired children at the fourth through sixth grade developmental level.
