This slide presentation provides information on federally funded program designed to train Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) social workers and early childhood education (ECE) providers in collaborative practices. The slides reviews the history of the Head Start program and of child welfare services, types of ECE services and DCFS services, and navigating the ECE services network. The training addresses the potential of ECE to improve developmental outcomes and school readiness for DCFS children, structural barriers of the referral and enrollment process, trauma-informed practice for DCFS children, and the eligibility for free or subsidized care for DCFS children.
