Juvenile Law Center (Philadelphia, Pa.). Youth Fostering Change Program.
Information Packet or Sheet
This toolkit was created by foster youth for Philadelphia foster youth to help them graduate from high school and get into college. The first section helps students identify their needs, strengths, skills, and interests. It also assists youth in creating short- and long-term goals to map out a plan for success. The second section of the toolkit is designed to assist foster youth in understanding exactly what they have to do to get into college. It includes information on finding colleges, what is needed to apply for college, and financial aid. Advice is provided from foster youth who have been through the process and resources are listed to help youth plan successful college experiences. The toolkit closes with checklists for all four years of high school to ensure students are ready to apply to and succeed at college.
