Presents the story of Dillian, a baby who was the victim of shaken baby syndrome and was placed in foster care when he was 4 months. Despite his medical issues, which included seizures, a foster family took him in and immediately fell in love. At first Dillian did not like being touched or held, and a few months later the family learned that he was deaf and blind. Over time, he learned to identify his parents and calmed down, but he was always very sick. In 2017, the decision was made to place him in hospice, but the family first wanted to legally adopt Dillian. The Department of Human Services made the case a priority, and just 3 weeks later his adoption was finalized. This Real-Life Story was developed as part of National Foster Care Month 2018.
