This executive summary discusses the findings of the "Without a Home: The National Youth Homelessness Survey" that presented national data on the links between youth homelessness and child welfare involvement in Canada, and then highlights four key areas of concern with respect to child welfare involvement and youth homelessness. These four areas include housing instability in care, difficult transitions from care, early experiences of homelessness, and inequity. It explains the momentum for implementing policy shifts and makes recommendations for implementing these shifts for the government of Canada, provincial and territorial governments, and child protection services and workers.
