Describes one foster family's experience with a little girl named Nikole who changed their lives for the better. The family started taking care of Nikole when she was 2 days old, but she was soon able to return to her mother's care. For weeks, the foster family worked to support the mother, but she tragically passed away from an illness, and Nikole came back into their care while her biological father worked to regain custody. Now, Nikole is thriving with her father, but her foster family is still closely involved. They started a nonprofit, Patty's Hope, that works with birth parents of children in foster care. This Real-Life Story was developed as part of National Foster Care Month 2016.
