This brief discusses the peer pressure pregnant teenagers may face in school against placing their baby for adoption and the creation of Decisions, Choices and Options, an organization dedicated to teaching students about adoption so that they could make a fully informed decision for or against making an adoption plan. The organization has partnered with agencies and community organizations in ten States and has developed curriculum models to serve and educate teachers, elementary school students, middle school students, high school students, and college students. The Adoption Friendly Classroom Program is profiled and includes lessons on stepping in when a child is being inappropriately questioned or demeaned by classmates regarding their adoption, and information about how certain lessons can inadvertently create complications for adopted children.
