This 12 week curriculum for adoptive parents of children with alcohol-related birth disorders provides information about the cognitive development of individuals who were exposed to alcohol in utero. The psychoeducational program focuses on identifying sources of stress and adapting the child's environment to enhance coping skills. Sessions address behavior patterns of children with fetal alcohol syndrome and effects, diagnosis and resolution, symptoms and strategies, and environmental accommodations. Each section of the curriculum manual includes an explanation of the topic, exercises and homework for parents, and a list of reading materials for more information. The manual also provides tips for establishing and implementing parent groups. Sample materials and worksheets are inserted as appendices. Document scanned.
