This Supervisor Handbook was developed by the Utah Division of Child and Family Services to implement a statewide training for child welfare supervisors and caseworkers, utilizing the NCSACW online tutorial Understanding Substance Use Disorders, Treatment and Family Recovery: A Guide for Child Welfare Professionals. The Handbook allows supervisors to become familiar with the training materials and plan for training completion, follow up, and mentoring. The Handbook includes a discussion guide to evaluate what caseworks learned from the tutorial, what they have applied with families, and what they can do to support families affected by substance use disorders.
