The second in a series of webinars, this 34-minute videotape recording focuses on newborn infants with neurodevelopmental disorders due to prenatal drug exposure. The video discusses the advantages of using methadone for pregnant women addicted to narcotics. Opiate use patterns in the United States are reviewed, as well as complications of opiate use in pregnancy and the development of methadone maintenance therapy. The impact of methadone on the infant is described, including neonatal abstinence syndrome.
