This All County Information Notice (ACIN) provides California county child welfare agencies, Title IV-E Agreement tribes, and juvenile probation departments information regarding the compliance reporting for contacts completed with children and families through videoconferencing during the declared Coronavirus (COVID-19) State of Emergency. It explains how visits conducted using videoconferencing will impact Monthly Caseworker Visits (MCV) compliance requirements. It begins by noting that in certain circumstances videoconferencing may be used as an alternative when conventional face-to-face visits are not possible or prudent and will count toward the MCV requirement. In addition, visits conducted via videoconferencing will be counted toward the in-home visit requirement. Background information is then provided on requirements regarding monthly caseworker visits, and the importance of counties fully documenting how the decision was made to complete the contact via videoconferencing is emphasized. Key factors to consider when determining if face-to-face visits are necessary during the COVID-19 pandemic are outlined. (Author abstract modified)
