Designed for Spanish-speaking illegal immigrant families in Connecticut, this packet provides information to help families prepare for detainment or deportation. It begins by explaining the need to develop a Family Preparedness Plan that identifies a trusted adult who can care for a child if the parent cannot, fill out a Standby Guardian Designation form, and complete a child care plan that includes emergency phone numbers and other important information. The role of an attorney is explained. Forms are then included that parents can use to document important information about their children, emergency numbers and important contact information, helpful things to know about their children, and standby guardian designation. Instructions for filling out the forms are provided, as well as steps for finding and hiring an attorney. Material is presented in Spanish.
