This chapter explores whether violence against children is increasing. It reviews conceptual and methodological challenges, considers what is known about levels of violence, reviews findings from community-based surveys on violence against children, and discusses developmental risks, the overlapping and accumulating nature of victimization and polyvictimization experiences, and research on trends in violence.
