On March 19, 2020, the United States Children’s Bureau and Think of Us hosted a Virtual Town Hall for Older Foster Youth. In this 50-minute Town Hall, Dr. Jerry Milner, the Acting Commissioner of the Administration for Children and Families, addressed how the COVID-19 pandemic is impacting older foster youth and answered questions from States. Findings indicate youth are front-and-center to the response during this time, local communities and States are best equipped to identify emerging issues and potential solutions, and overcoming the challenges will take collective effort, and youth and staff at all levels--local, State, and federal—need to work together to address emerging issues. The top needs of older foster youth are identified and include: food, housing, healthcare, technology access, financial assistance, employment, transportation, education, household supplies, and parenting/child care. A transcript of the Town Hall is provided.
