This brief explains that as community members practice social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the home visiting field can no longer meet with families in person. The use of telehealth in the fields of medicine and behavioral health is then discussed and highlighted as an option for home visitors. The following research-supported technology outreach strategies are then described: video calls, texting and messaging apps, and providing online content. It notes home visitors need to provide technology support to families to troubleshoot problems, pay attention to privacy concerns during virtual visits, use equipment that allows eye contact with families to strengthen rapport, provide support to parents between meetings, and create day and time boundaries for communication with families. Links to additional resources are provided.
