This continually updated website explains youth and families experiencing the child welfare system are uniquely vulnerable to the impact and ripple effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, and that caregiver health, placement changes, school closures, and court delays present new and emerging considerations for advocates to swiftly assess and address. Links are provided to resources that address: child welfare courts during a health crisis; federal communication and guidance on COVID-19, including relevant information on youth on college campuses, caseworker visits, and CFSR Program Improvement Plans, child abuse and neglect investigations and timelines, child welfare court deadlines, no cost or low cost technology options, and congregate care facilities; tip sheets for attorneys that discuss Florida Youth Shine reemployment assistance, making an emergency plan with transition age youth in foster care, and students who are homeless or with experience in foster care; talking to youth about COVID-19, including resources for parents and caregivers; sample COVID-19 court and attorney response protocols from different States; sample pleadings; health and self-care, including resources on disinfecting your home, managing mental health, and coping with COVID-19 anxiety; resource links from hospitals, juvenile justice organizations, and the American Bar Association; and links to related news on the impact of COVID-19 on child welfare systems.
