This report explains that when schools reopen after the COVID-19 pandemic, students will need tailored and sustained support to help them readjust and catch-up after the pandemic. It then identifies three priorities for enabling all children to return to school safely and to learn in a supportive environment: all children and youth are back in school and receive the tailored services needed to meet their learning, health, psychosocial well-being, and other needs; all children receive support to catch up on lost learning; and all teachers are prepared and supported to address learning losses among their students and to incorporate digital technology into their teaching. Challenges associated with each of these priorities are identified, as well as areas of action, targets, and evaluation indicators. Efforts by UNESCO, UNICEF, and WorldBank to join forces to support countries are also discussed.
