This report shares statistics on the COVID-19 vaccination of all children under the age of 18 in the United States. It reports that as of September 22, 2021, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recorded: a total of 13 million children under the age of 18 have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, representing 55% of 12-17 year olds; 10.4 million children under the age of 18 are fully vaccinated, representing 45% of 12-17 year olds; the number of children receiving their first COVID-19 vaccine this past week was approximately 235,000; the number of children receiving their first dose declined for a sixth week, and is at the lowest level since the vaccine was made available to 12-15 year-olds; the number of weekly first-dose vaccinations remains far below the peak of 1.6 million the end of May when eligibility expanded to 12-15 year olds; and in 13 States, over 65% of children (age 12-17) have received at least 1 dose, and in 21 States, under 50% have received 1 dose. Data charts are provided and show the weekly increase in COVID-19 vaccine recipients under age 18 by age group, the proportion of U.S. children ages 12-17 vaccinated against COVID-19 by State of residence, and trends over a 3-week period. The webpage notes there are 72.8 million children under age 18 in the US, 22% of the population.
