Developed through a collaborative project of non-governmental organizations, this webpage explains the COVID-19 pandemic is threatening the safety and well-being of children in many ways and offers information and news related to the COVID-19 pandemic to inform advocacy efforts and decision making by policymakers during this crisis. Information is provided on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on older foster youth; the challenges faced by birth parents and foster families during the COVID-19 pandemic; the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on grandparents and other relatives who are raising kinship children and ways grandfamilies can be supported; the increased stress families are having during the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent increased risks of child maltreatment; and the barriers child welfare workers face in conducting safety investigations and other in-person visits during the COVID-19 pandemic.
