This brief provides updates from citizen review panels in different States. This issue provides updates from Alaska, Arizona, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Washington, and Wyoming. Information is provided on major initiatives and accomplishments for 2016 that address efforts to: continue to explore Tribal-State relationships, continue to examine the new Administrative Review Process, strengthen new infrastructure and the evaluation process, strengthen recommendations for parent/child visitation in the foster care system, establish procedures to enhance collaboration, provide input on the development of a new State CAPTA plan, review data on the immunization of children in foster care, research the use of psychotropic medications among youth in care, research the fidelity of the background check system, examine standards on the age of youth served in Independent Living Programs, prevent child abuse and improve the child welfare system, develop training on child abuse images, improve engagement with families involved in the child welfare system, address caseworker retention and recruitment, and gather information related to the outcomes areas of safety, permanency, and well-being for children and families.
