This brief provides updates from the National Citizen Review Panel (CRP) Advisory Board and CRPs in different States. This issue provides updates from Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Wyoming. Information is provided on major initiatives and accomplishments for 2016 that address efforts to: research the causes and consequences of turnover among frontline workers, investigate ways to support children of incarcerated parents, incorporate a child abuse pediatrician in the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, review statutes regarding homeschooling, encourage the development of an enhanced protocol on county-to-county case transfers, recommend the use of predictive analytics to assess risk factors, develop an effective agenda for change, support older youth within the child welfare system, develop recommendations to ensure local agencies receive sufficient support to protect children, recruit community volunteers for serving children and families, and perform local reviews of agency staff and facilitate foster parent focus groups.
