This article explains the Doris Duke Fellowship for the Promotion of Child Well-Being was established in 2010 with the idea that in order to become leaders in the child abuse and neglect prevention field, it is imperative that students have meaningful interactions with others from different disciplines as well as learn to effectively communicate their work with those responsible for crafting and implementing the public response to troubling social issues. It notes that over the past six years, the fellowship has selected 90 scholars from diverse disciplines and provided each fellow with two years of support. The emphasis on the link between research and public policy is discussed, as well as the requirement fellows have policy mentors. 2 references.
