This playbook is intended to assist Rhode Island child care settings in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. It begins by reviewing the symptoms of COVID-19 and then provides guidance on what to do if staff or a child becomes symptomatic. Additional information is provided on: mask wearing and stable pods in child care settings; transmission of COVID-19 in child care centers; mitigation strategies for preventing the spread of COVID-19 in child care centers; the COVID-19 vaccine and immunity; the quarantine exemption for fully vaccinated persons; COVID-19 and seasonal allergies; testing for COVID-19 and the K-12 and child care test scheduling service; confirming a positive asymptomatic antigen test; the COVID-19 infectious period; the isolation period; quarantine guidelines; travel and quarantine; quarantine and isolation within the household; guidelines for individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 90 days; quarantine exemptions after COVID-19 infections and after vaccinations.; and child care response protocols for symptomatic individuals, positive cases, and close contacts of a case. A daily checklist is provided and additional resources are listed.
