This website includes links to resources designed to assist those advocating for youth and families that are involved in the foster care and juvenile justice systems during the COVID-19 pandemic. Links are provided to official statements by the Youth Law Center (YLC) on advocacy efforts for children during COVID-19, emergency planning for transition age youth in foster care, emergency planning for youth in congregate care, and transformation of the California juvenile delinquency system. Links to policy recommendations are also provided for expanding services to protect older youth, an expulsion moratorium in California, a nationwide moratorium on juvenile fines and fees, a campaign to highlight the urgent needs of youth in and aging out of foster care during COVID-19, COVID-19 policy recommendations and resources for youth in the juvenile justice system, opposition to the California Judicial Council’s proposed COVID-19 response emergency action to extend timelines for arraignment, preliminary hearings, and trials, more protections for California youth in foster care during the COVID-19 pandemic, and for the expansion of protections for older youth and transition age youth during the COVID-19 pandemic.
