This article proposes parenting support as a route that should be explored for preventing child maltreatment in the context of low- and middle-income countries (LMIC). A research agenda is proposed for building the evidence base of parent support programs in LMIC, identifying effective interventions, addressing the issue of cost and cost-effectiveness, addressing capacity, and shaping programs for low-resource settings. 15 references.
