Abstract: Provides information relevant to using collaborative practices and models across human service systems in order to better serve families in contact with child welfare who are dealing with co-occurring issues. The handbook defines co-occurring issues and challenges families in child welfare might face in gaining access to individualized services. This publication also defines collaboration in child welfare and provides an overview of challenges agencies face with collaborating across systems and how certain collaborative practices and models can help agencies overcome those challenges. Finally, this resource includes information on conducting a readiness assessment for effective cross-system collaboration and identifies several capacity building strategies for collaboration to address the service needs of families with co-occurring issues.
